Raspberry Hot Springs was founded and hand-built from the ground up by music producer and former short-term rental host Alex Ginzburg. Today, Alex runs Raspberry alongside Alyssa Halls, whose passion for environmental science, art, and outdoor recreation combine to provide a welcoming, safe, and serene retreat for decompression, and wellness.
After graduating from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, Alex paved a decade-long career as a professional audio recording engineer and instrumental music artist (www.soundcloud.com/ginza) releasing 5 full-length albums of his own music and dozens of LPs and Eps for his studio clients at Earth One Studio.
In 2011 he embarked on a journey to pioneer a little slice of the West, creating what is now Raspberry Hot Springs, a private wellness experience located in the Arapaho National Forest, magically tucked at the base of a faithful rainbow that rolls over Idaho Springs and Belleview Mountain and lands at the Ranch!! At an elevation of 9000 feet, the property boasts 14-mile views of Chief Mountain and Mt. Blue Sky from the parking area; from the Springs, a surreal 10-mile view of an entire lineup of 12,000 to 13,000-foot + peaks - Mt. Flora, Witter Peak, Mt. Eva, Mt. Bancroft, and Parry Peak. Various viewpoints across the 30-acre ranch offer views that span the entire range of Clear Creek County.
Living and building at 9,000 feet is its own kind of challenge - even these views were hard-won. The ranch started as a 5-acre parcel of raw land, purchased by Alex in 2011. With the help and guidance of a dedicated team of architects, engineers, builders, and planners, Alex designed and constructed the home and spa amenities over the course of 13 years, putting in 90-hour work weeks and working countless days in sub-zero temperatures to realize his dream. Today, in 2024, the Ranch spans 30 adjoining acres surrounded by federally protected lands on all sides. Alex is building a legacy of conservation through a vision brought to life with blood, sweat, and tears, a vision that has, for the past 9 years, been rated by 99% of his patrons as a 5-star experience. With 7 years under his belt as a short-term rental host on Airbnb , and now in his 3rd year hosting a daytime private wellness spa experience, Alex’s commitment to personable, authentic, kind hospitality is a trademark of this unique Colorado experience.
Alyssa is no stranger to hard work either. Raised on farm chores and forest romps in Oregon, she has an incredibly diverse resume working for a chocolatier in Guatemala, managing a fly fishing lodge in Kiribati, operating a piler for the sugar beet harvest in Montana, doing pest and bloom surveys for a botanical garden, collecting and identifying zooplankton for a water chemistry lab, technical writing and editing for an environmental consulting firm, running a commercial fly tying company in Washington and Wyoming, and guiding fishermen on float trips down the Big Horn River for nearly a decade.
An artist at heart with an eye for details missed by most, she has been busy beautifying the grounds, adding features and finishes that highlight the existing magnificence of this place, and collaborating with Alex to dream up solutions to the challenges of running an off-grid, outdoor, year-round business in the rugged high country of Colorado. Alyssa is the main contact point for Raspberry Hot Springs and cares deeply about connecting people with the natural world, helping folks find serenity, synchronicity, and joy. She believes in the healing power of water, of birdsong and squirrel chirps, of pine duff underfoot, flowers nodding in a summer breeze, and snow banners twisting in the waning light of a winter day. Since moving to the Ranch in July of 2024, Alyssa has developed an intimate relationship with the land up here and has poured her heart and soul into hosting the endlessly wonderful and fascinating array of guests who visit Raspberry.
Rather than simply seeking short-term gains, Alex and Alyssa are building a legacy through the board and mission of the Earth One Trust to achieve the following goals:
Protect this nature corridor from future development
Prevent increases in traffic and development by combining these breathtaking parcels that would otherwise be at risk of subdivision
Generate tourism revenue for the County to support local services and the health of our community
Establish a conservation donation pipeline in perpetuity to help protect the water, land, and wildlife resources of Colorado.
Grounded in a leave-no-trace, conservation-minded presence, this is far from the typical maximum-profit model, generic, commercial hot spring. Raspberry Hot Springs is a privately owned, home occupation land trust, built with intention and managed with a mission of wellness for the people. With minimal impact on this rugged land and the community of flora and fauna we coexist with up here, we offer a memorable experience for our private guests one visitor at a time. Here you’ll find the opportunity to soak, hike, rest, and reconnect with the natural world. Those who seek a uniquely genuine rustic Colorado experience - you’ve come to the right place.
